JTA delegates accept government’s wage offer

Delegates of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, (JTA), voted, to accept the government’s wage offer, at a special conference, on Sunday.

The teachers’ acceptance, follows, the rejection of a previous offer on Wednesday, and nationwide protests by the educators.

During yesterday’s conference, 629 teaching delegates accepted the offer, while 147 rejected it.

The JTA has written to Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, to indicate the delegates decision. They represent the 78 district associations islandwide.

The association says, it anticipates, that the ministry will execute the necessary processes, to facilitate the signing of the heads of agreement, at the earliest time possible.
