The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) has conducted a drone survey to assess the impact of yesterday’s (May 10) fire at the Riverton Disposal Site in St. Andrew.

Public Relations Officer, Emelio Ebanks told IRIE FM news that the survey shows that the damage is not as severe as was initially thought.

Firefighters, who began tackling the blaze at 10: 30 yesterday morning, have now reportedly contained the flames.

Mr. Ebanks noted, however, that shifting wind conditions continue to pose a challenge.

Noting that the fire has caused a smoke nuisance for persons in the Corporate area, Mr. Ebanks is urging citizens to take the necessary precautionary measures to protect their health.

He is also urging motorists to exercise extreme caution when travelling near the facility.
