Those were the chants from Jamaican citizens who gathered at the Emancipation Park in New Kingston this morning (May 19) to express their outrage over the salary increase for members of the Political Directorate.

The protest which began at 8 AM, saw scores of placard-bearing residents chanting and marching, demanding a roll-back on the pay hike.

One resident told IRIE FM news that she had to join the protest to call for more transparency and accountability from the Jamaican Government.

Another protestor said the pay hike is unfair and unjust and that the country is in need of too many things for the Government to be focused on a pay hike of this magnitude.

A demonstrator lamented that some Members of Parliament do not help, or even interact with their constituents.
