UK-CARIFORUM trade has jumped 110 per cent

by May 19th, 2023

The United Kingdom has reported that trade with the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) has rebounded significantly since the COVID Pandemic.

CARIFORUM is a subgroup of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, which serves as a base for economic dialogue with the European Union.

During a UK/Caribbean Ministerial meeting in Kingston yesterday (May 18), UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, James Cleverly noted that trade between the two parties has jumped by 110 per cent between 2021 and 2022.

This, he explained, represents a fruitful economic partnership agreement between the UK and the CARIFORUM.

He also noted that collaboration on issues including climate change has been progressive.

He said, however, that more must be done.
