Political Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown says the political code of conduct will help political representatives to think differently about several issues, including public utterances.

She says the code of conduct should help to prevent confrontations,.

Mrs Parchment Brown says, these utterances sometimes allow persons to form an opinion of the speaker, instead of the person being spoken about.

She says this is unhealthy for the electorate, since the speaker is not addressing issues of importance.

She was speaking at the signing of the political code of conduct in Hanover on Friday February 12.
