Plans underway for International Reggae Day

by June 16th, 2023

International Reggae Day (IRD) will this year salute the global influence of 80s and 90s Dancehall from Bruckins to Bogle, and its impact on genres like Hip Hop, Reggaeton, EDM, and Afrobeats.

IRD founder Andrea Davis speaks with Music News following a meeting held today (June 16) with international counterparts to discuss plans.

July 1 is recognized as International Reggae Day.

This 24 hours of celebration for reggae culture and its influence on Jamaican music, will pay homage to the Jamaican Artistes, the Producers and the Sound systems who were central to the development of the rhythms and the sound and helped to spread the Dancehall phenomena.
