Foreign Affairs Minister, Kamina Johnson Smith says the Government has not taken a fixed policy position in relation to the arrival of Haitians in the country.

This, after a group of 37 Haitians arrived on the shores of the Boston Beach in Portland on Monday (July 10).

Their arrival sparked concern over whether or not those fleeing crisis-torn Haiti would be allowed to stay in Jamaica, or sent back home.

Speaking on the matter during a Post-Cabinet press briefing this morning (July 12), Mrs Johnson Smith said there is no policy position regarding their arrival.

She noted, however, that the Government will be guided by domestic and international migration laws.
