by March 10th, 2017

The Manchester Police are looking for a sixth suspect in relation to the attempted extortion of business places operating in southern parishes.

Head of the Manchester Police Superintendent Wayne Cameron, who was addressing the monthly meeting of the Manchester Municipal Corporation Thursday, said the man was seen on CCTV footage.

Superintendent Cameron reassured business owners that the police have the situation under control.

On Wednesday, the police arrested a fifth suspect- a woman,  in the extortion ring operating in southern parishes.

She is the second woman arrested so far, in the extortion scheme.

The police launched a man hunt for the suspect, after the alleged female mastermind, and three men,  were arrested at the weekend, after extortionists, reportedly sent letters to several business operators in Spanish Town, Mandeville, and May Pen, demanding money.

Death threats were issued to the business operators, their employees, and family, if the demands are not met.

Assistant commissioner of police in charge of area 3, Donovan Graham told IRIE FM News Thursday that allegations are that  the fifth suspect helped to identify business establishments to which  letters were sent.

He says no charge has been laid against the four suspects who were arrested on the weekend.

ACP Graham says they are awaiting legal representation.
