Finance Minister announces tax measures

Finance Minister Audley Shaw announced a raft of new tax measures to raise 13.52 billion dollars.

The Finance Minister was opening the budget debate in Parliament Thursday.

Mr. Shaw announced an increase in the Special Consumption Tax on fuel, alcohol and tobacco which should yield the government a total of 8 point 6 billion dollars.

 

 

More people will see general consumption tax being added to their electricity bills.

The threshold has been reduced to 1 hundred and 50 kilowatt hour for exemption to apply.
