There is still no resolution to the impasse between the government and the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, JHTA over plans for the Tourism Enhancement Fund, TEF.

The government has announced plans for the funds in the TEF to be transferred to the Consolidated Fund. Representatives of the Association and the Finance Ministry met Monday to discuss the contentious issue.

President of the JHTA Omar Robinson says the Association will continue to advocate for the integrity of the fund to be maintained while pushing for its sustainability.

Mr Robinson says the Association wants the funds earned to be specifically earmarked for the tourism sector

Mr Robinson says further discussions are to be held in relation to the property tax rate which will take effect in the new financial year.

The JHTA says in many cases, these increases are in triple digit percentages and in one specific case was increased by as much as 1 thousand percent
