Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) says property tax relief forms are now available for persons wishing to apply for the relief.

Team leader for compliance at TAJ, Sharon Williamson says the forms are available online at TAJ’s website, at tax offices island wide, as well as at all municipal corporations.

Several property owners have complained, that the newly implemented land valuation system has seen the cost of their property tax in some cases triple, and that they will have difficulty in paying the new rates.

Ms. Williamson says persons applying for relief have 2 months to do so.

She says completed special discretionary relief forms should be submitted to the Municipal Corporations, while completed valuation objection forms should be submitted to the Commissioner of Land Valuation at the Tax office.
