One staff member is dead, while 4 others were injured following an explosion in the main boiler room, at the Riu Reggae Hotel in Montego Bay St. James, this afternoon (Apl 20).

The identity of the person killed has not been released.

Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade Emilio Ebanks says the brigade was alerted to the fire at shortly after 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Ebanks says the cause of the explosion is not yet known.
