St Thomas residents severely affected by heavy rains and flooding

by April 24th, 2017

Some residents in St. Thomas are facing severe after-effects of the heavy rains over the weekend.

Member of Parliament for St. Thomas Western, James Robertson says several grave sites have been washed out, the safety of homes is threatened and several roadways that were recently repaired have been damaged.

The affected areas include the Cedar Valley division, Ramble and Trinityville.

Mr. Robertson says residents from serge island leading into cedar valley are worst affected.

He says the new highway to be built in St. Thomas will help to alleviate the frequent flooding.

A meeting will be held with the Member of Parliament and the relevant ministers to discuss the challenges including water and electricity in the parish.

He is also to meet with the National Works Agency (NWA) to examine the roads that become impassable due to flooding and find solutions.
