Kern Spencer Foundation bemoans red tape in clearing donated items

by May 2nd, 2017

At least one charitable group is bemoaning the level of bureaucracy that such entities have to endure.

Head of his namesake foundation Kern Spencer says the government needs to make it less tedious for charitable groups to give back to the Jamaican society.

There have been a number of complaints of the length of time it takes to get clearance to import donations and the number of offices and documentation that are involved in the process.

Mr. Spencer says the registration of a foundation took several months and was frustrating at times.

His foundation partnered with an overseas donor to contribute supplies to the Santa Cruz infirmary on Sunday.
