Male student of Merlene Ottey High stabbed, battling for life in hospital

A grade 10 student of the Merlene Ottey High School in Hanover, is reportedly battling for life in hospital, after he was stabbed by a school mate, yesterday (May 9).

The 15-year-old was allegedly stabbed by a grade 11 male student.

There are conflicting reports as to how the incident unfolded.

One claim is that an altercation developed between 2 boys outside the school compound, just after the close of school, yesterday.

A knife was allegedly drawn by one boy, and used to stab the other.

Another report is that an altercation developed between two boys while still on the school campus.

A third boy reportedly intervened in a bid to quell the fight, and during the fracas, he was stabbed in his abdomen.

The wounded student has been admitted at the intensive care unit at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, in critical condition.

It’s not clear what caused the altercation.

The Sandy Bay police have launched a search for the alleged attacker.
