Information Minister Ruel Reid told the Senate this morning (May 12) that the country benefited greatly from the overseas travels undertaken by the Prime Minister last year.
The Information Minister was responding to questions posed by Opposition Senator Lambert Brown on the nature, number and cost of the overseas trips made by the Prime Minister over the first ten months of his administration
It was revealed that the Prime Minister undertook ten overseas trips at a cost of just under US 100, 000.
Among the trips were to Guyana for a heads of government meeting, Morocco, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Brazil.
Senator Brown, not satisfied, asked about the benefits derived by the country from those trips.
In response, the Information Minister stated that the trips were not frivolous in nature as they helped to forge new frontiers of cooperation and also facilitated the exchange of ideas for greater cooperation
