Information Minister, Senator Ruel Reid says discussions are being held with the broadcasting commission to manage the media landscape in Jamaica to include social media.

Senator Reid says only 20 per cent of the media landscape is regulated by the broadcasting commission.

He says with the new media landscape there is need for the government to address the consumption and influence of content.

Meantime, Opposition Spokesman on Justice, Senator Mark Golding expressed dissatisfaction to comments that it is the government’s responsibility to address the content of the media landscape.

They were speaking in parliament this morning (May 12).
