India to play West Indies in ODI series in June

The West Indies will play host to India in a five One Day International series and a one-off T20 International from June 23 to July 9.

The five-match ODI series is slated to begin on June 23, with the first two games to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

The third and fourth ODI’s will be played at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua on June 30 and July 2 respectively

The series then shifts to Sabina Park in Jamaica for both the 5th and final ODI on July 6 as well as the solitary T20I on July 9.

The ODI series in the meantime has massive bearing for the home team who are in pursuit of direct qualification for the 2019 ODI World Cup.

The Windies, who will miss the Champions Trophy in England, are currently ninth on the ICC ODI rankings, just nine rating points behind Pakistan and have until September 30 which is the cut-off date for the top eight spots for the World Cup to be sealed.

Within that time, West Indies will have the opportunity to gain ground with ODI assignments lined up against India, Afghanistan and England
