Players who take a dive face being banned for two matches next season after the English Football Association voted to allow retrospective action to be taken against players who try to deceive the officials .
The Fa’s Annual General meeting approved the introduction of trial by video for any player who, by diving, either wins a penalty or causes an opponent to be sent off .
A three-strong panel made up of a former match official, manager and player will independently review such incidents under a new offence of ‘successful deception of a match official’.
Players will only be charged if the panel is unanimous that a dive occurred, while anyone yellow carded or sent off as result of an opponent’s simulation could have his or her sanction rescinded.
