The Bog Walk Gorge in St. Catherine is now open to vehicular access.

The National Works Agency announced the opening of the thoroughfare a short while ago.

The Gorge had been closed for the last two days, due to heavy silting following record rainfall in central and southern parishes earlier this week.

The agency had been asking motorists to stay away from the Gorge because it was slippery and to facilitate the removal of huge deposits of silt from the road way.

More than 20 trucks were deployed to the gorge in a bid to clear silt from the roadway which was reportedly six feet in some areas.
