A policeman has been taken into custody after he allegedly shot and killed his uncle in the Baileys Vale community, S. Mary today (May 27).

Dead is 48 year old construction worker John Davis, otherwise called Sparrow, of Baileys Vale.

Commanding Officer for the St. Mary police Fabian Farquharson says the matter is being investigated.

Reports are that about 6:00 a.m., the officer and his uncle were involved in a dispute during which the cop reportedly shot the uncle dead.

Family members told Irie FM News that the 2 men have been in a long standing dispute for some time, and despite mediation attempts by other police officers, the situation escalated between last night and this morning.

A cousin, Clive Nango says the dispute was reportedly over a house and land.

Relatives are receiving counselling and support from the JCF chaplaincy nit.
