Another round of meetings is to be held next month to try and settle a wage dispute involving Carib Cement Company and the workers.

One of the unions representing the workers, the National Workers Union, met with the management of Carib Cement and representatives from the Labour Ministry yesterday (May 26), following industrial action by workers at the Rockfort plant in Kingston.

The workers resumed normal duties today.

Head of the NWU Granville Valentine says the parties were unable to settle the various issues during yesterday’s meeting.

He says the workers are upset by recent comments made by the management of the company

He says wage negations will continue on June 6 and 7.

The parties are expected to report to the Labour Ministry on the progress of talks.
