A high powered rifle believed to belong to the Hati police was found in Rockfort Kingston today (Jun 4).

A team of officers assigned to the Kingston eastern division seized the Galilaeae 22 rifle and a magazine containing six 5.56 cartridges on peters road in Rockfort.

Reports are that about 2:00 a.m., police on patrol in the area responded to explosions heard.

On their arrival, the lawmen saw a man with multiple gunshot wounds on the ground.

While the police team was there, they too came under fire by the gunmen.

After the shooting subsided, the firearm which bears the insignia of the Haitian police was found.

The wounded man was assisted to the hospital for treatment.

Investigations continue.
