Haitian police confirm gun found in Rockfort is theirs

Head of the Constabulary Communication Unit, Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, says Haitian officials have confirmed that the firearm that was found in Rockfort, Kingston on Sunday, belongs to the Haitian police.

Speaking with Irie FM News, Superintendent Lindsay says, the Haitian officials are making checks, to determine how the high powered rifle, ended up in Jamaica.

Reports are that, about 2 a.m. on Sunday, police on patrol in Rockfort, responded to sounds of explosions, and a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

While there, the police team came under fire, from the gunmen.

After the shooting subsided, a rifle, and a magazine containing six cartridges were reportedly found on peters road, in Rockfort.

The firearm had the insignia of the Haitian police.

Meantime, the wounded man found in Rockfort, remains hospitalized.
