Reggae Boys knock off French Guiana to reach Caribbean Cup Final

Jamaica’s senior reggae boy’s remains on course to defend their Scotiabank Caribbean Football Union (CFU) men’s Caribbean Cup title, after battling to a 4-2 penalty shoot win over French Guiana in semi-final action last night.

Both teams had earlier played to 1-all draw after regulation and extra time.

Loic Baal gave French Guiana the lead in the 21st minute, while Jermaine Johnson equalized for the Jamaicans in the 70th minute.

At the dreaded penalty shoot-out, Michael Binns failed to convert for Jamaica, however Owayne Gordon, Shamar Nicholson, O’Neil fisher and Cory Burke were all on target for the Jamaicans.

The Reggae Boys were reduced to ten players when Ladale Richie was show red, while Coach Theodore Whitmore was ejected from the bench.

Curacao won the other semi-final last night after stopping host Martinique 2-1.

The Jamaicans will face curacao in the championship decider on Sunday, while Martinique and French Guiana will do battle in the third place playoff.
