West Indies beaten by Australia in ICC Women’s World Cup opener

The struggles of the West Indies women cricket team continued this morning after they opened their ICC Women’s World Cup campaign on a losing note.

This after the Caribbean women suffered an eight wicket loss to Australia.

Opener Haley Matthews hit a top score 46 , captain Stafanie Taylor weighed in with 45 and Chadean Nation  39, as the regional women winning the toss and batting first were all out for 204 in 47 overs and five balls.

This against Ellyse Perry who snatched 3 for 47.

Set 205 runs to win Australia guided by Nicole Bolton whipped 14 fours on her way to an unbeaten century of 107, eased to 205 for the loss of two wickets with 71 balls to spare.

Bowling for the ‘Windies’ Taylor later returned to take 2 for 33 from her 8 overs.
