Bolt nominated for ESPY Award

Jamaican track and field superstar Usain Bolt is in line to win the ESPY Best International Athlete award for a third time.

Bolt, was nominated among a star-studded group of five after winning gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at Rio 2016 to complete an unprecedented ‘triple-treble’ at three consecutive Olympics.

Also making the shortlist are Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo (a former two-time winner), boxer Canelo Alvarez, swimmer Katinka Hosszu and mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor.

The awards which are presented annually sees fans from around the world voting to select winners in over 35 categories including Best Athlete, Best Female Athlete, Best Team, Best Record Breaking Performance, Best Championship and Best Breakthrough Athlete.

The 30 year old Bolt, since rising to global stardom at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, has won the Best International Male Athlete award in 2009 and in 2013.

He was also named the Best Track and Field Athlete in 2010.

The 2017 ESPY Awards will be held on July 12.
