Christopher Samuda is the new president of the Jamaica Olympic Association………..he defeated Vishu Tolan in the election last evening by a 20 to 16 margin to replace the honorable Mike Fennell who served in the post for the past 40 years.
Samuda’s entire slate was voted in to serve for the next 4 years at the election at the offices of the Jamaica Olympic Association in Kingston .
Jamaica bobsleigh federation boss Chris stokes defeated President of the Jamaica Athletics Administration Association (JAAA) Dr. Warren Blake 25 to 11 for the post of first vice president while JAAA General Secretary Garth Gayle turned back former swimming association head Martin Lyn 29 to 7 for the 2nd vice-president position.
Alan Beckford got the better of former netball Jamaica president Marva Bernard 28 to 8 for the secretary general post while long serving treasurer Compton Rodney lost 21-15 to Grace-Kennedy’s executive and Jamaica Badminton association president Nicole Case .
The new administration is also comprised of directors, Raymond Anderson, laurel smith, Robert Scott and Yvonne Kong .
The newly elected president spoke with Irie Fm sports after he was declared the winner.
The first order of business for the new executive is to prepare Jamaica’s team for the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas next month.
