Manchester police clamp down on burglaries

The Manchester police believe they have made a major breakthrough into the probe of incidents of break-ins, and burglaries.

Commanding Officer for Manchester Superintendent Wayne Cameron is describing break-ins as organised crime.

He explains that a series of raids began on Friday.

Yesterday’s raid resulted in the seizure of 22 boxes of boot -legged rum at one location.

One man has been charged   for having uncustomed goods in his possession. He is Glenrick Davies, a pawnshop operator.  A bartender was also taken into custody.

Superintendent Cameron adds that further raids at another area, led to the seizure of household items. Police say these were reported stolen from homes around Mandeville.

Meanwhile, another business operator was warned for prosecution, after police said they recovered pieces of furniture

Police say residents have been coming forward in relation to the recovered items.

Police earlier arrested a man who is before the courts on 27 counts of break-ins.

He says police expect to see a downward movement in the number of break-ins.
