Daphne Schippers confident she is ready for IAAF World Championship

by July 26th, 2017

Dafne Schippers is confident she is in good shape to challenge for medals at the World Championships after a relaxing build-up to the meet.

Schippers has stamped her authority over the women’s sprints in recent years with 200-metres gold in the Worlds in Beijing two years ago nestled in between back-to-back 100meters European Championship crowns.

However, she was unable to replicate that form at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio as she finished fifth in the 100meters and had to settle for silver in the 200metres.

The Dutchwoman says the media attention on her leading into the Games meant her preparations were chaotic, and that had an impact on her performance.

But there is less pressure on her this time around and she believes that bodes well as she looks to add to her World Championship medal collection.
