by July 29th, 2017

Sunshine Girls star goal shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid has signed with West Coast Fever for the 2018 Suncorp Super Netball season in Australia.

Fowler-Reid fills Fever’s only vacant position in the Club’s contracted roster, joining Nat Medhurst, Courtney Bruce, Stacey Francis, Jess Anstiss, Verity Charles, Ingrid Colyer, Shannon Eagland, Kaylia Stanton and Annika Lee-Jones in the 2018 playing squad.

The Jamaican International conveyed her enthusiasm about her move to Fever and the opportunity it presents.

“I’m really excited about joining Fever and motivated by the challenge it poses for me in adapting to a new environment,” Fowler-Reid said.

“Competing against the Club for many years they always looked like a unit that played for each other and that culture was really attractive because I’m a firm believer that it helps determine the success of a team.”

“I will be striving to do my best to contribute to our growth as a Club and I am looking forward to bringing a certain strength and reliability in the attacking end of the court.”

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to grow and gain a wealth of knowledge, particularly working with Nat Medhurst and Kaylia Stanton who I can’t wait to create an unbreakable combination with.”

Fowler-Reid was the leading goal scorer from the final season of Trans-Tasman netball competition in 2016, as well as the inaugural season of the ANZ Premiership in New Zealand this year.

She has proven to be lethal at the scoring post in her five seasons with the Steel, scoring 3,678 goals at 91% accuracy, including 790 goals at 92% accuracy and an average of 53 per game in 2017.

The 27-year-old also becomes the fourth international representative in Fever’s squad, having played for the Jamaican Sunshine Girls on 48 occasions, including a Bronze Medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
