Ristananna Tracey leads Jamaican medal charge on day 7 of IAAF World Championship

Jamaica’s medal stock at the IAAF World Athletics Championship in London could jump to three today.  This when Ristananna Tracey competes from lane seven in the women’s 400 meters hurdles final at 3:35 pm Jamaica time.

Tracey is one of seven Jamaicans in action today.

The others being Sashalee Forbes, Jodean Williams and Simone Facey who will all compete in the separate semi-final in the women’s 200 metres.

Kimberly Williams will line up in the first round of the women’s high jump at 10 minutes after 1.

Natoya Goule will run in heat three of the women’s 800 metres at 1:43 and Kimarra McDonald in heat five at 2 pm.

Reports have surfaced that Jamaica’s third representative in the 800 meters jasmine fray has not made it in time for the event due to passport issues

Yesterday two Jamaicans missed the medal podium by a spot .

Daniel Williams -Dodd who became the first Jamaican to reach a shot putt senior women’s final was fourth with a best effort of 18.91 metres

Kemar Mowatt was also fourth in the men’s 400 meters hurdles final stopping the clock in 48.99 seconds.

Jamaica also missed out on a medal in the women’s 400m, with Shericka Jackson, 50.76, and Stephenie-Ann McPherson, 50.86, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, with Novlene Williams-Mills crossing the line in eighth spot in 51.48 seconds.

American Phyllis-Francis took advantage of an apparent Shaunae Miller-Uibo injury close to the finish line, winning in 49.92 seconds.

Aisha Praught-Leer who qualified for the 3000metres steeplechase final after her 9:26.37 fourth-place run in the heats says he was happy with the time she posted.

Kemoy Campbell advanced to the men’s 5000m final after finishing ninth in his heat in 13minutes 26.67 seconds.
