Security Minister says meeting with Police Federation was fruitful

by August 17th, 2017

National Security Minister Robert Montague says the police federation is supporting the government’s move to allow JCF members to provide adequate notice for resignation.

A meeting was held this morning (Aug 17) between Mr. Montague and the Police Federation to discuss changes to the constabulary act.

There was disquiet among members of the force after an amendment to the constabulary force act required six months’ notice for resignations and saw some fines being increased for certain breaches.

While not divulging much into the outcome of the meeting, Mr. Montague congratulated the federation on what he terms a positive posture on the issue of notice for resignation

He says with the situation which existed prior to the changes to the constabulary act, some officers opted to leave the force without giving ample notice which prevents proper planning by other JCF members.
