by August 18th, 2017

Reggae Boy Owayne Gordon has joined USL club San Antonio FC on loan from Red Stripe Premier League campaigners Montego Bay United, following his recent stint at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The 25-year-old was a key member of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad with Jamaica, which impressively reached the final for a second consecutive time. Gordon appeared in all six games for the Reggae Boyz as the side defeated Mexico in the semifinals before falling to the United States in the final.

Gordon has spent the last six seasons with Montego Bay United since 2011, while also spending time on loan to Indy Eleven last season.

“We are excited to have Omar join us in San Antonio,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “Omar has come in the past couple of weeks and shown well with the current team. We are excited to get him on the field with the team after his impressive Gold Cup experience with Jamaica.”

Gordon helped Montego Bay win the 2013-14 RSPL championship and also appeared in two CONCACAF Champions League matches with the club and has appeared 10 times at the full international level for Jamaica.

“It’s a great feeling to be around these players and to be part of this great club,” said Gordon. “It’s a great feeling to be here. I hope to come in and make a major impact, and I will do my best to accomplish that.”

San Antonio are currently second in Group B on 41 points, 10 adrift of leaders Real Monarch who are on 51.
