Popcaan’s Unruly Wins Red Bull Culture Clash

by August 28th, 2017

Popcaan’s Unruly crew will be bringing the Red Bull Culture Clash trophy to Jamaican soil, after winning the clash on Friday night.

In the absence of the Unruly boss himself, Popcaan, the crew consisting of Jamaican local based selectors ZJ Liquid, Creep Chromatic, G Skull, and foreign based Jamaican selectors, Jazzy T, Jabba and Sir DJ Corey, represented for the culture winning three of four rounds and ultimately the title.

The clash saw the Unruly crew dominating Disturbing London featuring Tine Tempah, and Enjoy Life featuring WondaGurl, who got some assistance from Chris Dymond and Lank of Jamaica’s Code Red sound, and also an appearance form Serani. It was the Eardrummers featuring Mike Will Made It that gave Unruly some competition, with special appearances from Pusha T, Ludacris and Junior ‘One Blood’ Reid. But the Unruly crew stood firm with dubplates from Chronixx, Konshens, Beenie Man, Junior Gong, rappers Young M.A. and Drake and what some have dubbed the tipping point, a winning appearance from Atlanta’s very own Jermaine Dupri.

Popcaan who was expected to make his first appearance in the US and defend the title he won last year in London as a lead in Mixpak’s crew, pulled out of the competition only a few hours before the start of the event on Friday evening.

In an official statement from the Unruly camp, the camp expressed that Popcaan was unable to participate, after efforts to secure travel documents in time were futile.
