Shai Hope guides West Indies to amazing five wickets England in second test in Headingly

The West Indies led by an unbeaten century from Shai Hope pulled off an amazing five wickets triumph over England in the second Test in Headingly earlier this afternoon .

The Caribbean men who resumed the day on 5 without loss and chasing 317 runs to win on the final day secured the unlikely victory at 324 for 5.

The regional side was powered by man of the match Hope who scored an unbeaten 118 to become the first man to score two centuries in the same test at Headingly and help the Caribbean side level the three match test series at 1-all .

Hope got support from first innings centurion Kraig Braithwaite who fought his way to 95 and the pair shared in a third wicket stand worth 144 runs to help the Caribbean side seal the first test win over England in England since 2000 .

Earlier the windies lost opener Keiron Powell for 23, Germaine Blackwood supported with 41, Roston Chase made 30, Shane Dowrich was yet to get off the mark, while Kyle Hope was sent packing for a duck.

West Indies captain Jason Holder says he was always confident that his players could pull off the win.

In the meantime Shai Hope says he never felt an ounce of doubt coming into the final day.

Bowling for England Moeen Ali picked up 2 for 76, with a wicket each for Chris Waokes and Stuart Broad.

Final scores in the game England 258 & 490 for 8 declared and West Indies 427 and 324 for 5.

The third test starts on September 7 at Lord’s.
