Yohan Blake among two Jamaicans winners at IAAF World Challenge meet in Zagreb

There were victories for 2011 World Champion Yohan Blake and Shaneka Ricketts at the IAAF World  Challenge  meeting  in  Zagreb on Tuesday.

Blake who was a fourth place finisher at the recently held world Championships in London captured the men’s 100 meters in 10.05 seconds.

Guinness world record holder Asafa Powell took third place in a time of 10.16 seconds while second place went to Mike Rodgers of the US who clocked 10.14 seconds

Earlier Shaneka Ricketts captured the women’s triple jump. Rickets came out on top of the field in a season’s best leap of 14.45 meters.

Megan Simmonds and Danielle Williams were fourth and 5th respectively in the 100 meters hurdles, both athletes accredited with the identical time of 13.40 seconds

Christina manning 12.66 won the event ahead of her fellow us compatriots Dawn Harper Nelson who clocked 12.84 and Christie Castling third in 12.86

Schilonie Calvert was a fifth place finisher in the women’s 100 meters in 11.43 seconds . Blessing Okabare of Nigeria won the event in 11.14 seconds

Andrew riley was also a fourth place finisher in the men’s 110 meters high hurdles with a time of 13.49 seconds as the other Jamaican in the event Ronald levy did not start

2015 world champion Sergey Shubenkov won the event in 13.12 seconds. In the meantime national record  holder  Odayne  Richards  took  4th  spot  yesterday  in  the  men’s  shot  put  event.

This  following  his  effort  of  21  metres  flat  to  finish  behind  the  winner  Tomas  Walsh  of  New  Zealand  who  ended  at 21.50  metres.
