by October 6th, 2017

Principal of the Edith Dalton James high school, Orlando Worges, says security measures will be put in place following a meeting with the Ministry of Education this morning (Oct 6).

A dispute between two boys at the institution yesterday, claimed the life of 15 year old Clive Mattison.

The police say the grade ten boy, who is alleged to have done the stabbing, has been taken into police custody.

Mr. Worges says the school will be liaising with the Ministry of Education, to implement a technological device to minimise the inflow of weapons into the institution.

He says prior to the incident there was no direct method as it relates to security checks before students entered the school grounds.

He adds that, with over 12,000 students attending the school, manual search would pose a challenge.

Meanwhile, approximately one hundred councillors visited the Edith Dalton James high school this morning, to provide support following yesterday’s deadly dispute.

Principal of the Edith Dalton James high Orlando Worges says Education Minister Ruel Reid, along with several other groups visited the institution this morning to offer support.

He says some of the students are heartbroken and distraught over the incident.

Mr. Worges says parents of the deceased have taken a hard blow and the school will be extending its services to offer any help they can to assist the parents.

When Irie FM News visited the area today, it was reported that the boy’s mother was hospitalised and released after receiving news about her son’s death yesterday.
