Moca arrests 7 alleged lottery scammers

Seven persons accused of being involved in lottery scamming, were arrested this morning (Oct 7) by detectives attached to the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, (MOCA).

The operations were conducted in sections of Westmoreland and St. James.

In a statement, Moca says the simultaneous operations were conducted by Moca, with assistance from police mobile reserve, the JDF and agents from the Financial Investigations Division.

The operations targeted persons involved in the illicit lottery scam.

During the operations, several premises in Farm Hill and Farm Heights in St. James, as well as premises in Bethel Town, Logwood and Coral Springs in Westmoreland were searched.

The searches resulted in a number of items used in lottery scamming being seized.

The persons arrested are expected to be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys, following which charges are expected to be laid.
