IOC creates new set of ‘ethical principles’ to stamp out corruption

by October 20th, 2017

Members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are now being forced to sign-up to a new set of “ethical principles” governing their behavior on issues including conflicts of interests, the accepting of gifts, and the use of tickets for the Olympic Games.

The latest move forms part of the bold move by the IOC to stamp out corruption.

The new rules, which go into far more details than previous ones set out in the ethics code, have been introduced at a time where there are investigations into possible corruption, surrounding bidding procedures for successive editions of the Olympic Games.

The compulsory signing of the document must be completed by the start of the IOC commission meetings in Lausanne on November 5.
