Borussia Dortmund Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed that the door remains open for recently retired track star Usain Bolt to have a trial at the club.

The legendary Olympic sprinter and world record holder was invited to train with the club last year after puma CEO Bjorn Gulden informed the club, who are also sponsored by puma that the sprinter had asked about the possibility of having a run out with the German Bundesliga giants.

The parties have not yet found a way to make the arrangement work, but Watzke has insisted that the offer still stands.

The 31-year-old athlete, who has recently re-affirmed his desire to play football at the highest level and is keen to take up the invitation, but must first recover from a hamstring injury sustained at London World Championships in August.

Speaking after Sunday’s appearance at the formula one Grand Prix in the United States, Bolt said in two weeks he will kick start his training, to eventually get back into shape.
