Psychiatric nursing aides lobby for better wages

by October 26th, 2017

Members of the Psychiatric Nursing Aide Association of Jamaica say they will be seeking to lobby government for better wages

, given the risk associated with their work.

President of the Association, Gary Hemmings says members are not being properly or adequately compensated for the weight of their work.

Speaking at the annual conference in Montego Bay St. James this morning (Oct 26) Mr. Hemmings noted that the members are now discussing how to formulate the wage claim for the 2017-2019 contract period.

He says the issue of health insurance will form part of the wage claim which will be submitted to the Finance Ministry, at a later date.

The conference is being held under the theme: innovations through care, the pathway to acceptance and de-stigmatisation.
