400 metres world record holder Wayde Van-Niekerk successfully underwent a full surgery to repair multiple tears in his knee and is already on the road to recovery after tackling his first rehabilitation session.
The South African had a successful operation on medial and lateral tears of the meniscus in his right knee, as well as his anterior cruciate ligament at Steadman clinic in Colorado on Tuesday.
He had his first rehab session on Wednesday and it is reported to have gone well.
It was revealed on Tuesday that the 400metres world record holder would be out of action for at least six months and would miss the 2018 Commonwealth Games set for the Gold Coast in Australia due to the injury.
