Former FIFA Vice president and former Concacaf president Austin Jack’ Warner has filed an appeal against his extradition proceedings to the United States.
This was revealed yesterday when Warner reappeared before acting chief magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle in the Port of Spain court.
Warner is wanted in the United States on a series of fraud and corruption charges stemming from illegal activities he allegedly engaged in during his tenure as Vice-President of FIFA.
He lost his lawsuit challenging the process used by the office of the attorney general in signing off on the US government’s request for his extradition in May 2015.
Warner claims the case against him is politically motivated and accuses the United States of seeking revenge because it lost to Qatar in its bid to host the 2022 World Cup.
