St James residents protest over bad roads

by November 6th, 2017

Several teachers and students were left stranded this morning (Nov 6) as residents of Johns Hall, St. James blocked the thoroughfare.

The residents are reportedly upset over the bad state of the roads, and a lack of water in the community.

Sections of the Johns Hall, Spring Mount and Hampton main roads have been blocked.

According to acting Principal of the Johns Hall All-Age School in St. James, Maxine Tugwell Brown, the road blocks have negatively impacted the attendance of teachers and students.

She says only four teachers who live in the area were able to make it out to school.

Meanwhile, post master at the Johns Hall post office Sashauna Scott says there is no access for many residents.
