Jamaica women’s hockey team remains unbeaten in CAC qualifiers

Jamaica’s women hockey players remained unbeaten in the Central American and the Caribbean Games (CAC) qualifying tournament and stayed on course for a spot in this weekend’s final.

This as the Irie girls blanked Puerto Rico 2 nil this afternoon at the Jn Mona Hockey Field…a result that saw them remaining atop the standings with nine points.

The Jamaicans had earlier secured wins over Guatemala and panama respectively before playing to a nil-all draw with Guyana yesterday.

Jamaica’s female coach Christine Bartley spoke with Irie Fm sports.

The Jamaican ladies will face Bermuda in their final preliminary game on Saturday at 12 noon.

The two finalists will qualify for the CAC Games next year in Colombia.

Meanwhile in other games today Guatemala defeated Panama 1-nil to pick up their first win, and Guyana completed a 3-nil win over Bermuda.

Over in the men’s division…….the Jamaica vs Guatemala men’s match was not played due to heavy showers…… and has been pushed pack to tomorrow morning starting at 9:30.

Guyana moved to the top of the standings with maximum nine points after hammering Panama nine nil.
