Ninja Man back in jail after medical scare

Ninja Man began giving an unsworn statement from the dock today at his murder trial in the Home Circuit Court.

The veteran deejay was absent from court for a few days during the trial but was back in court since Thursday.

It was reported last week that Ninja Man suffered a mild heart after he complained of chest pains while at court last week Friday and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Ninja Man is now undergoing treatment for his illness.

Justice Martin Gayle who is presiding at the trial granted several short adjournments during the trial yesterday and today to allow Ninja Man to take his medication.

Justice Gayle had made a ruling on Monday that the trial should continue in Ninja Man’s absence and several prosecution witnesses testified.

The Crown closed its case today and Ninja Man began giving his unsworn statement.

An accused who gives an unsworn statement cannot be cross-examined by the prosecutor.

The trial which began on October 17,  is being held in camera and evidence have been led by the prosecution implicating the dancehall deejay in the murder.

Ninja Man and his son along with Dennis Clayton are on trial for the murder of Ricardo Johnson also called Trooper was fatally shot eight years ago on  Marl Road, Kingston 11.

The men  were on bail but Justice Gayle remanded them in custody when the  trial started last month. They will remain in custody until the trial is completed.

Ninja Man will continue to give his statement denying the allegations when the trial resumes on Monday.
