by December 4th, 2017

Retired Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt, has expressed gratitude after an 8 foot bronze statue was unveiled in his honor at Independence Park the National Stadium in Kingston on Sunday night.

In his thank you speech, a humbled Usain Bolt said he was very pleased with the statue, and it is surreal how a kid from Sherwood Content Trelawny could rise to achieve this feat. Bolt further pushed his motto that anything is possible and there are no limits.

The statue sculpted by Basil Watson, depicts Usain doing his infamous to the world stance and has been mounted among the likes of other Jamaican sports icons Herb McKenley, Merlene Ottey, Donald Quarrie, and Arthur Wint.

The Bolt statue is the first of four statues unveiled that has been commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport. The other three will be of Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, Veronica Campbell-Brown, and Asafa Powell and will be revealed over the course of the next two years.
