India has been confirmed as the opponents and hosts for Afghanistan’s historic maiden test match.

Afghanistan, together with Ireland, became the ICC’s newest full members in June, enabling both nations to play test cricket for the first time.

Today, the board of control for cricket in India (BCCI) announced it would play host to Afghanistan’s debut, although no official date has been released.

India currently top the ICC test rankings and have beaten Afghanistan in each of the three limited-overs fixtures between the sides.
