Man sentenced to 15 yrs imprisonment for murder

by December 15th, 2017

Thirty-six-year-old construction worker Philip Brown, who pleaded guilty last month to the murder of his common-law wife, was today sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

Justice Martin Gayle ordered that he is to serve 10 years before parole.

Brown pleaded guilty under the sentence reduction initiative of the Justice Ministry.

The body of 31 year-old Kerry Ann Wilson was found wrapped in a tarpaulin at their Crystal Towers apartment on Old Hope Road, St. Andrew on December 10 last year.

Evidence was led at the trial that Wilson indicated that she wanted to end the relationship after she found out that Brown was married to someone else.

The prosecution argued that Wilson was beaten to death and that Brown cracked her skull with a hammer, then wrapped her body in a tarpaulin.
